They tried to get Judy to wear a blonde wig in "Wizard of Oz" didn't they? And then they took it off because she looked to old. I think she suted it but she looked better with her platts.

I guess they thought she looked better with lighter hair in the mid to late forties, but I love her dark hair, which she used first in Summer Stock...Also there is a shot of her with very dark hair in the early forties (in black and white) but I loved that look for her too. She really looks more like Liza in that shot. ::)Also I always wondered if her hair was slightly lightened in her black and white movies from Babes in Arms through Girl Crazy; maybe they did this to give it more highlights?

strawberry blonde. I think was her colour. She mostly had wigs. But she did dye her hair a couple a times and had to keep dying it..she got grey really early poor thing. I know she dyed it black for 'The Clock' and after that she kept it dark.
