Big fan of Carrie Fisher. Have any of you read her books? Lots of references to Judy Garland. Loved Post cards from the Edge - the movie. Meryl Streep played her and Shirley Maclaine her mother (Debbie Reynolds) favourite quotes- "The Queens Love me!" and 'instant gratification takes too long" also... when she walks down that long hall at the rehab/detox...got pictures of all those stars who died of drugs...and at the end..there's Judy! another quote- 'my skirt twirled up!' that reminds me of Judy singing "I don't care' when she delibreately twirled her skirt up lol.

I think it is Debbie Reynolds who has the MGM costumes museum. Debbie Reynolds to me appeared to be a bit of a flake..very sweet apple pie, probably what MGM wanted Judy to be forever if they could.
She could sing a little, dance a little, but was nowhere in the same league as Judy G. Too bad Elizabeth Taylor had to run off with her husband Eddie Fisher.
I don't know if the two actresses met or were friendly as Judy was on the way out when Debbie came to MGM. Debbie of course got to dance with Gene Kelly (who was her hero at the time) in Singin' in the Rain.
But Judy's version of the original song is infinitely better, in my opinion. As is 'Good mornin'
What amazes me about Debbie Reynolds is how accomplished dancer she appeared on screen despite not knowing a thing about dancing before she landed the part. Very Renee Zellweger, she would have made an excellent Roxie Hart.

I was looking at Carrie Fisher's blog and she has a new one out called..'Shockaholic'.
I didn't know you could milk bipolar for all it's worth. Wow, never thought to do that. But then again, I ain't a celebrity no more. Been there, done that.
