I became hooked on Judy the first time I saw the WOZ and subsequently made a effort to purchase most of her movies first on VHS format now DVD , somewhere down the road we will have to shell out more money when Judy's films are released on the Blu-ray format. I just think she was / is so talented but some family members and friends laugh at me if I tell them I'm watching a Judy Garland film. Go figure.
Judydarling, I have always appreciated your in depth analysis on a wide range of subjects including Judy's personal and professional life. Even when you disagree with a person on a certain topic, you try to be objective and understanding . It's good to see some legitimate posters back on this board again. I hope you will continue posting on both boards and maybe share some more photos , especially Judy photos if you have some to share. Takecare

David..what is blu-ray? I thought that format was discontinued..I may be wrong...
Judydarling..some funny people out there! (lol I don't mean you..;-) Don't get caught up in those dramas..waste of time if you ask me..personally I got better things to do then console a bunch of old drama queens who get their knickers in a knot just because someone doesn't think the exact same way they do. It's only because you hold a mirror up to them, and when they see themselves they don't like their own reflection.

David, That is so nice of you to say..I appreciate your posts too! Speaking of photos I just uploaded one yesterday that I want to share..see if you can spot Judy. For me it is easier to post on this board as I use the JGDB site the most. I mean not that I don't like the other one (it's got so many bells and whistles that I get lost on it) it's just too much hassle.
lol well we can all ignore the dodgy troll posts it's not like that's anything new. I reckon it's one sexually frustrated male judging by the names he chooses - he doesn't have anything riveting to talk about. I think you may be right about implying he is illegitimate. There's another name for that kind of person. I guess it's just down to the way kids are brought up - obviously something's gone wrong there. But really that's none of my business - I don't know him, and I don't want to know.
The shelling out money thing - lol Judy would laugh that's she's become such a commodity. I think it' nice to own things but for me it's not really necessary. Most of the films I've seen I borrowed from my Judy friend..or the library. The classic ones come on tv so it's always a treat when they appear. I know what it's like to want to see EVERYTHING. It's like she was so amazing that you don't want to miss a second of anything she ever did.

Rainbowgirl, The Blu-ray format is not on the decline in fact more and more movie titles are being released on this new format. The manufacterers are pushing it because of the even higher video resolution than the DVD and the storing data sounds impressive. You can store about 8 times more data on the Blu- ray disc. So that means if they cared about the consumer, they could give us multiple movies on just one disc including extra features.
Judydarling , I think you're very lucky being able to borrow Judy's films from your library , we aren't as fortunate here on movie choices at my local libraries. I admire the fiesty saying it like it is quality you seem to possess along with your informative discussions and dedication to help some of us more uniniformed Judy fans like myself gain alittle more perspective on Judy Garland's life . Yeah the best thing is to ignore some of the charecters the may pop up on here. May I ask if you and or Rainbowgirl are from the States or the UK if i'm not being too nosey? I live not too far from the big apple.

well..I'm from New Zealand. I'm a librarian. I sometimes get in trouble for sharing information..but you know..that's my inner geek speaking.
You may not have much movie choice at your library but you live not far from the big apple - and I think you are incredibly lucky to have NYC and places like Broadway in your backyard! You can just pop over to visit all those famed places..the crypt where Judy's body rests, Carnegie Hall, The Palace, all the places in the Clock (grand central station, MOMA, central park) all the places Esther Smith dreaded leaving St Louis for..Brooklyn Bridge, the Plaza Hotel, I could go on...
There is a website called 'Judy in London' I think it would be neat if there was one called 'Judy in New York' because she happened to like that town..although Liza seems to have set her stamp on it.

yea I think they had two formats out at the time one was blu-ray and the other can't remember the name (it was like VHS vs Beta all over again) so it seems blu-ray has won out?
Na not from the UK or States. From Oz! also known as Australia to you yanks.

Rainbow girl- It was HD DVD.
Over here in the UK Blue Ray is very small, no-one seems to buy it, true it is a better quality than HD, but HD is alot cheaper, which is always a fav with us Brits! It is still an ongoing race, but I think here, almost definitely HD has probably won! Plus you need special players for the Blue Ray disc's, where as with the HD you don't!

We have a few blu-ray dvds in the library but I've never tried viewing them. I didn't know you needed a special player. Nobody's really asked for them.

I'd put my money on HD. I think most people would go for the cheaper version. That's what happened to beta and VHS..apparently beta was superior, but everyone went for VHS because it worked out cheaper. I dunno about having 8 times more storage..I'd rather have better quality than storage, and besides you can have movies stored on your hard drive now so having heaps of disc storage might be obsolete. Who has time to watch 8 movies in a row??
